New effort will leverage Life Balanced Kenosha County brand to attract out-of-state talent and support local workforce needs
The Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA) has been awarded funding through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s (WEDC) Talent Recruitment Grant (TRG) Program to support a new initiative focused on attracting out-of-state workers and their families to the Kenosha Area.
The funding is part of a statewide $5 million investment announced by Governor Tony Evers and WEDC to help communities address workforce shortages through innovative talent attraction and recruitment strategies. The program was created to support local efforts that encourage individuals and families to relocate to Wisconsin communities while strengthening long-term workforce growth and economic development.
The Kenosha Area Business Alliance will leverage a $240,000 WEDC Talent Recruitment Grant to expand its Life Balanced Kenosha County initiative and launch a targeted campaign aimed at attracting talented workers and their families from outside Wisconsin.
The effort will combine digital marketing, employer partnerships, relocation incentives, and community ambassador programs to showcase Kenosha County’s exceptional career opportunities, quality of life, and strategic location. The initiative will provide a welcoming pathway for newcomers to connect with the community, helping ensure they not only relocate to Kenosha County but choose to build their future here.
“Kenosha County continues to experience strong economic growth, business expansion, and significant investment across a wide range of industries,” said KABA President Nicole Ryf. “As companies continue to grow, access to talent remains one of the most important factors influencing their success. This initiative will help us tell the story of why people should choose Kenosha County – not only as a place to build a career, but as a place to build a life.”
Life Balanced Kenosha County was developed as a collaborative talent attraction and retention initiative that highlights the unique advantages of living and working in the community. Through digital marketing, employer partnerships, workforce resources, community ambassadors, and a countywide jobs platform, the initiative helps connect talent to career opportunities while showcasing the quality of life available throughout the region.
The new campaign will build upon those efforts by targeting prospective residents outside Wisconsin and positioning Kenosha County as a destination for professionals, families, and individuals seeking career advancement, affordability, community amenities, and access to one of the Midwest’s fastest-growing economic corridors.
“Kenosha County is a hotspot for economic development in our region and in the nation, and we are constantly in need of a talented workforce to meet the needs of our corporate partners,” remarked Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman. “This Talent Recruitment Grant will go a long way in further enhancing KABA’s strong efforts to spotlight our county and its outstanding quality of life.”
Over the past several years, Kenosha County has experienced substantial private-sector investment, major business expansions, and continued job growth, reinforcing the need for innovative workforce attraction strategies to help employers fill critical positions and sustain long-term economic momentum.
