Pleasant Prairie has hired Robert Hanson, an area native with a background working with economic and community development organizations, as the village’s next community development director.
Hanson spoke with the Kenosha News about his background and his goals looking ahead.
A native of Racine, Hanson spent “much of his childhood” growing up in Kenosha’s northern neighbor. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in geography, with a focus on urban planning and urban geography, and worked in Milwaukee for several years for an economic development organization before moving to the Twin Cities area.
For the last 10 years, Hanson has lived in the Minneapolis area, working for several years at a business development organization within the city, then as an economic development coordinator for Minnetonka, a nearby suburb.
“The bulk of my career has been spent in economic development and business development … also some planning and transit-related projects,” Hanson said. “Those fit really well with the community development director role here in Pleasant Prairie.”
