The Village of Pleasant Prairie has moved to expand a tax incremental financing district used as part of new development.
The board voted Aug. 10 to add new territory to Tax Incremental District 11, a move officials said will stimulate additional commercial, industrial and residential growth in the area.
The district, which had its boundaries first approved by the Village Board in 2024, currently encompasses some 1,000 acres of land mostly west of Interstate 94 (Wilmot Road to 122nd Street, between 114th Avenue and just west of 128th Avenue). The district is primarily industrial and already includes the HARIBO property.
Village officials say the amended district will fund infrastructure improvements like roadway improvements, utility installations and stormwater management.
“TID 11 reflects Pleasant Prairie’s commitment to long-term strategic planning and aims to position the community for sustained growth for decades to come,” village officials said in a release.
