It’s in the bag: Salem Lakes business sees expansion after relocating

Before relocating from Lake Villa, ll., Vonco Products, a maker of flexible, specialty shaped plastic packaging for food, breast milk and hazardous medical and industrial materials, was literally bursting at the seams.

After launching an image makeover with a bolder logo and a strategy to become a respected product innovator in 2015, Vonco had to make other changes to live up to the new reputation it wanted to present.

A larger facility became a necessity. In its old facility, there was little room for inventory, manufacturing equipment had to be moved around and the work area was too cramped. It no longer was an efficient manufacturing environment.

“We had outgrown that building,” said Vonco president Keith Smith.

At that time, the Kenosha Area Business Alliance was seeking tenants for its new Salem Business Park in Salem Lakes.
