Froedtert South plans hospital expansion, including 4-story parking garage in Pleasant Prairie

Froedtert South has announced major expansion plans for the Pleasant Prairie Hospital campus, with construction to start in the spring.

Plans were approved by the Froedtert South Board of Directors on Jan. 28 for a new $32 million parking structure to provide approximately 800 parking spaces. It will be attached via a two-story skywalk to the southeast side of the main hospital and the Schmidt Surgery Center.

The board also approved a $9 million investment to fully build out the second, third and fourth floors of the new Emergency Medical Services building already going up on campus.

The first floor of the structure, begun with an initial investment by Froedtert of $14 million, will house EMS training facilities, including a state-of-the-art virtual reality training center designed to enhance emergency medical education and preparedness. It was designed with assistance and input from Kenosha County area fire chiefs and training officers.

The second and fourth floors of the EMS building, once fully built out, will be dedicated to primary care physician practices. The third floor will consolidate Froedtert South’s pulmonology services, including pulmonologist offices, a sleep lab and a pulmonary function testing lab — into a single, centralized location.

“These investments reflect our ongoing commitment to meeting the health care needs of our growing community,” said Froedtert South President & CEO Ric Schmidt. “By expanding our services, facilities and care teams, we are ensuring that patients have access to the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve close to home.”
