An affiliate of Froedtert South purchased 12.3 acres along 120th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie for approximately $4.1 million, according to a deed filed with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. The property is approximately four miles from Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital at 9555 76th St.
The property was sold by WisPark LLC in a deal that closed Aug. 13, according to the deed.
The property was purchased as the hospital has experienced unprecedented growth in patients from northern Illinois, according to Froedtert South vice president of marketing Nicholas Galich. The hospital group has also added seven physicians from northern Illinois, which has helped draw more patients from the region, Galich said.
Plans for development of the property are currently under review, according to Galich.
Froedtert South has been working on other growth projects in the region as well.
In July, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission approved the preliminary site and operational plans for a 50,000-square-foot, four-story addition to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. The facility will be used for hands-on education and simulation-based training for first responders and clinical personnel and is designed to support emergency care outcomes.
The expansion of the hospital would include a dedicated emergency medical services training facility on the first floor and space for future expansion on the upper levels, according to a news release. The upper three floors of the addition will be built but not outfitted.
No timeline was given for construction of the expansion. Hospital operations will be uninterrupted by the construction.
