Children’s Hospital plans Kenosha clinic along I-94

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will open a clinic in Kenosha in 2018 that will be developed by Hammes Co. of Brookfield.

The clinic will be built just west of Interstate 94 near Wisconsin Highway 50 and be visible to motorists on the interstate.

A cost for the project was not immediately available. Construction of the 30,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin late summer or early fall of this year, pending local government approvals.

Wauwatosa-based Children’s Hospital will close four existing Kenosha clinics or offices and shift those operations to the new location, said Juliet Kersten, vice president of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Children’s will keep in Kenosha its Lakeside Pediatrics clinic and child and family counseling center.

The new facility will allow Children’s to provide additional specialty services to the Kenosha area, Kersten said.

“Expanding and integrating our services at locations that are more accessible to families makes it easier for them to get the best possible care for their kids,” Kersten said.

The new clinic continues Children’s Hospital’s strategy in recent years of adding primary care capacity away from its main Wauwatosa campus. Clinics have opened in Delafield, Mequon and Milwaukee’s Midtown Center.

Expanded services at the new location are expected to include imaging and radiology, laboratory, adolescent medicine, endocrinology, neurology, pulmonology, rehabilitation and developmental therapies, sleep services and otolaryngology and audiology.
