New Flexport Inc. fulfillment center will bring 300 jobs to Pleasant Prairie

Company expects to begin operations in August

A global logistics and supply chain management company is planning to occupy a 336,840-square-foot building at 9091 88th Ave. in Pleasant Prairie, bringing 300 full-time jobs to the area, according to village documents.

San Fransisco-based Flexport Inc. will take over a site previously occupied by Cincinnati-based The Kroger Co., which closed its facility in November 2025. The closing of the facility left more than 200 employees without work.

Plans were approved by the village Plan Commission Monday. Flexport plans to occupy the building beginning in August. The facility will be used for warehousing, e-commerce fulfillment and distribution services and will operate 24/7, with 150 employees on first shift and 150 employees on second shift.

In its site plans submitted to village, the company noted that potential adverse impacts of the operation include increased traffic on 88th Street during delivery hours. To mitigate impacts, the company proposed deliver windows, on-site traffic management and coordination with village traffic engineering as needed.

The company also intends to change the interior of the building, including the removal of its commercial chiller, refrigeration system, tote cleaning room, meat packing room and demising wall. The company will also reconfigure the existing automation system for general warehouse, shipping, receiving, distribution and light assembly use. No exterior changes were proposed.

Flexport is described in plan commission documents as a “modern, technology-driven freight forwarder and logistic platform that streamlines global trade by combining digital tools with physical supply chain services.”
