Commercial truck retailer plans Somers location with 100 jobs

Dubuque, Iowa-based Truck Country, a retailer and servicer of commercial trucks, plans to open a new facility in Kenosha County on a 49-acre property it has recently purchased along I-94, northeast of the Highway 142 interchange.

The company purchased the property at 1914 120th Ave. for $3.3 million, according to state property records, and is planning a 64,460-square-foot primary building and a 30,704-square-foot “future secondary building” to be constructed on the site, according to plans submitted to the village.

Plans show space for truck sales and service, as well as parking space, with the projected employee count at 100 between two shifts.

The development site is currently within the Town of Paris, but is planned to become annexed into the Village of Somers as part of the entitlement process, public records say. Public officials began the approval process earlier this year.

With operations across Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Truck Country is one of the largest Freightliner semi truck dealership groups in the country. It has locations in Oak Creek and Germantown.
