Future 5: Savannah Myers, Community development educator, UW-Madison Extension

Savannah Myers serves as the community development educator for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension in Bristol.

For the past two years, Myers has contributed to several programs offered by the UW Extension including broadband, entrepreneurship, community placemaking and vitality, and housing.

In her efforts to utilize university resources in Kenosha County, Myers has helped curate two local entrepreneurship events, called Homegrown and Avenues for Success, and a small business lunch series in partnership with three area nonprofits. She also helped create a survey for the Kenosha Area Business Alliance and Visit Kenosha and participated in a request for proposals for the extension’s broadband sector.

Her position has allowed her to become involved with other organizations and companies like the Kenosha County Housing for All task force and the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce. Since 2023, Myers has served on the task force’s steering committee and advocates for attainable housing for all. She also leads the task force’s promotions group, which creates resources for decision-makers and the public describing the importance of attainability.

“As part of this task force, I have been given an entirely new perspective on what my community is facing, and how I can be an active participant in working towards a solution for individuals being affected by the current housing crisis,” Myers said.

How branded content helps businesses tell stories that build trust

Storytelling has become one of the smartest ways businesses communicate who they are, what they do, and why they matter.

Beyond her role at UW Extension, Myers also serves on the Future Leaders of Kenosha committee and the Downtown Kenosha Business Improvement District outreach and retention committee.

“(Myers) is always out and about in our community seeking ways to connect with local professionals and businesses,” said Stefanie Hansen, membership and event coordinator for the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce.
