Sarah Howard joined Visit Pleasant Prairie in its first year of business and has since led the organization to expand its reach and staff while advancing to become its executive director.
oward joined the organization in 2019 as director of marketing and communications. She was promoted to executive director in 2022, a role she has now held for just over three years.
In her six total years with the organization, Howard has led Visit Pleasant Prairie’s entire directive, having served as its only employee for a period of time. During that time, she executed Visit Pleasant Prairie’s destination development and marketing plans, which eventually aided the expansion of the team to its current three employees.
Howard spearheaded several organization initiatives including the recent one-year celebration of its Welcome Center & Gift Shop, the coining of the phrase “It’s Always Pleasant in the Prairie,” the return and execution of several annual events, and the total rebrand and redesign of Visit Pleasant Prairie’s website, which launched in June 2025.
“The results of both visitors and residents participating in our signature experiences, purchasing our merchandise, and sharing how much they love our organization are very fulfilling,” Howard said.
In addition to her role as executive director, Howard has been involved in a collection of nonprofits and area companies for over 10 years, including Gateway Technical College, Kenosha Area Business Alliance, Destinations International, Kenosha Achievement Center, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Unity Coalition of Kenosha and Young Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago.
Outside of work, Howard and her husband have three children, in which they instill “the value of community and how investing in yourself and others will lead to a brighter future,” she said.
