Nolan Flynn joined Kenosha-based LaMacchia Travel agency at 15 years old and now, 13 years later, serves as the company’s director of marketing. He aided the company in overhauling its online offerings as well as expanding its team amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which strained the travel industry throughout 2020 and the years following.
Having worked in a variety of marketing roles at the company, Flynn has helped guide the rebranding and expansion of LaMacchia’s online platform with the help of Kenosha-based marketing firm Dooley & Associates. Flynn, in partnership with the marketing firm, created LaMacchia’s online planning system, which “makes (the) travel agency more accessible and relevant to a traveler beginning their planning online,” he said.
His proudest achievement, however, is helping the company overcome the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through capitalizing on a new trend in utilizing travel agencies, Flynn helped LaMacchia expand its team and redesign its website in the years following 2020, making up for business loss during the peak of the pandemic.
When Flynn was 21 years old, he was the youngest recipient in the nation to receive the 30Under30 award from Travel Agent Central magazine. He has also been invited to be a guest speaker at several travel industry events and is “an ambassador for Kenosha,” according to Tom Karnes, owner and president of LaMacchia.
“He is an avid advocate for small and local business, always encouraging others to experience and invest in what Kenosha has to offer,” Karnes said.
As the second oldest of 10 children, all born and raised in Kenosha, Flynn takes pride in serving the community and watching his younger siblings become involved as well.
“Kenosha is certainly my home,” he said.
In addition to his role at LaMacchia, Flynn is involved in other industry boards including Millennials in Travel, Travel Leaders Network and American Society of Travel Advisors.
