A Look Back & Ahead: City marks year of progress, growth

As I reflect on 2025, I am filled with gratitude for another year of progress, partnership, and service to the people of Kenosha.

The year 2025 was defined by teamwork between city staff, community leaders, business partners, and everyday residents. All have been committed to building a safer, stronger and more prosperous Kenosha for everyone.

Public safety, community recognition

Crime trends remained on a positive trajectory downward. I am proud of our Kenosha Police Department, Kenosha Fire personnel, and all frontline staff whose dedication keeps our neighborhoods safe.

Early in the year the Kenosha Police command staff received the FBI-LEEDA “Agency Trilogy Award,” being only the fourth agency in the State of Wisconsin to receive this distinguished award, a testament to their professionalism and effort.

The year 2025 also marked the Kenosha Fire Department becoming the first in the state to equip all Med Units with the ability to deliver life saving blood to patients in the field. This has already proven to truly be a live saver for several residents thus far and highlights the professionalism and highly trained staff Kenosha is proud to have.

Economic development, job creation

A highlight of 2025 was celebrating the grand opening of the Schütz Container Systems facility, a $166 million investment bringing new jobs and opportunity to Kenosha.

This facility isn’t just a building, it represents hundreds of good-paying jobs, highlighting that Kenosha is a place where businesses grow and families thrive.

We also continued supporting projects that will create opportunity for years to come. From new Downtown housing to Uptown redevelopment and a long-awaited grocery store along 22nd Avenue, to the groundwork for future growth, our city planning and development teams have been instrumental in moving these efforts forward.

Innovation and neighborhood revitalization

One of the most exciting moments of the year was opening the Kenosha Innovation Center, a hub for entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators. This center will be a catalyst for creativity and opportunity, a place where local ideas become global growth.

Our Home Kenosha program, launched earlier in the year, also took positive steps toward increasing affordable homeownership and reviving neighborhoods. This effort wouldn’t have been possible without our partner the Uline Corporation. They are aligned with our values that every family deserves a chance to achieve the American dream and own their own home in Kenosha.
