2024 KABA Annual Meeting

The Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA) cordially invites you to its 2024 Annual Meeting of Investors.

This year’s event will feature a keynote address from Kurt Paulsen, Professor of Urban Planning at UW-Madison. Also speaking is John Weidl, Administrator at the City of Whitewater. Both will be discussing the current challenges most Wisconsin counties are facing in regards to the availability of all types of housing as well as actionable ideas that communities can consider implementing to begin easing these pressures. The annual meeting will also include board of directors election results and an update on the KABA organization and Kenosha County economic development initiatives.

MEET OUR SPEAKER

Kurt Paulsen is a professor of urban planning at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His teaching and research focuses on housing policy, affordable housing, land use, and municipal finance. In addition to his published academic research, he has authored two Dane County housing needs assessments, and is the author of a 2019 study on housing in Wisconsin called “Falling Behind” published by the Wisconsin Realtors Association. Read more

 

MEET OUR SPEAKER

During John Weidl’s tenure as Administrator, the City of Whitewater has implemented several programs and initiatives to spur housing development including a Community Development Block Grant for Housing Rehabilitation, the use of tax incremental financing (TIF) to help supplement some of the cost of new affordable housing in the community, the allowance of smaller-lot single-family housing options by right in residential zoning districts, and the creation and adoption of new zoning districts or amended existing zoning districts to allow mixed-use development by right or by conditional use. Read more
