Since 1997, KABA has managed a school-based mentoring program that empowers both young people and the adults working with them. Volunteer mentors from the Kenosha Area business community commit 30-45 minutes of their time each week for a third through fifth grade or middle school student to work on academic and social skills. The program is designed to provide at-risk students with positive adult role models that spend time with the student on a regular basis.
The mentoring program has had a positive impact, helping build self-esteem and self confidence, improving attendance, improving academic performance and building relationships with adults and other students.
